Medical Imaging Center

Our new state of the art Medical Imaging Center is open for appointments Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Long known as the X-Ray Department, the more up-to-date name, Medical Imaging, is more descriptive of the work done today. With more than 20 radiologists, plus certified and specially trained imaging technologists, this highly skilled group of medical personnel performs a wide variety of tests to assist in diagnosis and treatment of many illnesses and injuries. We are digitally connected to other healthcare facilities in our region. Studies done in our Medical Imaging Center can be transmitted or received digitally.

Below is a list of some of the procedures that are requested by physicians for patients. We have included forms and additional procedure instructions below for your convenience. Click on the link to download and print out the forms you need.

  • MRI: Using safe magnetic fields and radio waves, the MRI creates extremely detailed 2-D or 3-D images of the body's internal structures to help in diagnosis and treatment of disease and injury.
  • Digital mammography: Digital mammography is a breast x-ray that can help identify changes in breast tissue that may indicate cancer. It produces digital images that are better than film mammography at finding cancer in dense breasts, women younger than 50, and women who had their final menstrual periods within 12 months of their mammograms. Mammography is still the best detection tool available for breast cancer, and early detection of the disease can make all the difference. Please call us to schedule your digital mammogram appointment.
  • Computed tomography (CT) scan: A computed tomography (CT) scan focuses a thin beam of x-rays on a specific part of your body such as the head, chest, liver, spleen, pancreas, kidneys or spine.  The x-rays create detailed cross-sectional images of the body for the radiologist to interpret.
  • General x-ray: Using electromagnetic radiation, X-rays produce images of internal tissues, bones and organs on film, which are then interpreted by radiologists.
  • Diagnostic ultrasound: Diagnostic ultrasound is a painless and harmless procedure that uses sound waves, not x-rays, to create images of tissues and organs within the body. During pregnancy, ultrasound helps obstetricians examine and measure the unborn baby. Arteries and veins in the neck, arms and legs can also be imaged by ultrasound.
  • Nuclear medicine scan: Nuclear medicine is a diagnostic field of radiology that uses small and safe amounts of radioactive material to help provide information about how organs of the body are functioning as well as showing the anatomy of organs.
  • Fluoroscopic imaging: Fluoroscopy is an imaging technique used to obtain real-time moving images of the internal structures of a patient. Procedures using fluoroscopy include:
  • Bone density scan: By measuring the bone mineral density, a bone density scan can determine if a patient has or is at risk of having osteoporosis.

Medical Imaging services are also available after hours and on the weekend via the Emergency Department/Registration entrance of the hospital for appointments before 7 a.m. and weekend appointments.
