Our Services
Embracing New Technologies
Because we understand the importance of start-of-the-art technology, during 2007 we upgraded our systems with the most advanced equipment and software available. These upgrades will not only help us provide higher quality care to our patients, but they will help us meet the growing needs of our local community for years to come.
New MRI scanner
Our Medical Imaging Department upgraded to the Seimen’s MAGNETOM Symphony 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner, which offers improved image quality, shorter scan and wait times, and improved patient comfort. The new MRI provides more detailed images, cuts most scan times in half, and is shorter and more spacious, which means most patients do not have to be completely inside the tube during their scans. This is great news for our patients who are claustrophobic or in pain, and for those who have a hard time lying still.
Transition to Digital Images
The hospital switched from hard-copy film to a new digital picture and archival communications system (PACS) for radiological images. As soon as a digital image is taken, it is sent by computer to the radiologist for review, and then made available for viewing via computer for any physician with permission. For patients, PACS results in decreased wait times, faster diagnosis and treatment, and fewer repeat scans. For physicians, PACS results in immediate access to images and reports, clearer images, and quicker report generation and turnaround times.
New Gamma Camera
Our Medical Imaging Department upgraded to the Siemens Symbia SPECT camera, which combines state-of-the-art image quality with unprecedented speed, flexibility and comfort. Because this new camera provides more clarity and detail with nuclear images, radiologists can detect problems sooner, which results in earlier treatments and improved chances for a cure.
New Emergency Preparedness Software
The hospital deployed VisualDx, a visual tool that aids physicians and clinicians in the early detection and recognition of identifiable diseases, including not only the more common infectious diseases, but also rare diseases, such as pandemic flu and agents of bioterrorism. VisualDx merges a comprehensive photograph collection (16,000 images) with an authoritative clinical knowledge base to allow faster, more accurate, and more effective decision making.
