Family Birth Center

If you are planning to have a baby, one of the most important decisions you will make is where to give birth. At the Family Birth Center we have created a very special environment for you and your baby.

The Family Birth Center features comfortable labor and delivery suites with whirlpool tubs. Private recovery rooms have televisions and VCRs, and beds for new dads. You may think it's more like a resort than a birth center. While the delivery rooms may not look like the old operating rooms, they house all the equipment that we may need for the care of mother and child.

Our nurses provide care that will warm your heart and give you peace of mind. All are specially trained to work in maternity care and certified in neonatal resuscitation. The hospital is proud to have an internationally certified lactation consultant who can help you decide whether to breastfeed or not, before your child arrives. She can also coach and counsel you when the baby is born, here in the hospital and at your home. The lactation office can also help you with breast pumps and supplies you may need while breastfeeding.

The Family Birth Center provides plenty of resources and assistance that we consider important:

• You will receive helpful Stork Notes to see you through your pregnancy, with the last section presented following the birth of your child, about home care for you and your child.
• You will receive instruction on car seat safety before you and your child leave the hospital to ease your mind and ensure your child's safety.
• Important classes before you deliver covering subjects such as infant CPR and more. See our Classes and Events tab.
• You may reserve space in our Prepared Childbirth Classes (Lamaze) for a small fee (to cover materials) and receive comprehensive information about labor, delivery, pain management, coaching and more. This is a six-week course taught by a registered nurse who is a certified Lamaze instructor.
• We work with the Web Nursery to provide you an opportunity to put your newborn's photo and information online for your friends and family. Click here to visit the Web Nursery.

The staff of The Family Birth Center invites you to tour our state-of-the-art facility, to see firsthand its charming, warm and safe environment, designed specifically with mothers-to-be and their families in mind. Tours are free and scheduled for your convenience. Just call (540) 829-4114.
